1970 Dodge Charger
This Dodge Charger is one of the coolest Musclecars ever built. Raimond bought this car in August 2008 as a wreck. It needs a lot of work to get it back on the road. It's the same model as used in the first movie of "the fast and the furious" Ray want's to make a copy of that car, but hopes he will not crash it like the one in the movie. During their trip to Texas in Januari 2009, Ray bought a 440 out of a motorhome at a local garage (Thanks Mike !) witch will be the new engine for the charger. Just keep an eye on the "projects" topic on this site, and you will see all the progresses.
Racing,
The first time raimond hit the strip was in june 2006 with his 440 powered '69 satellite. He got addicted to it and decided that he wanted to go faster ! The second event in July 2006 he had made some changes and adjustments to his car to make sure he was a littlebit faster than before.
Best time 2006 is 13.6 @ the ¼ mile.
2007 was a bad year for the races because of some conflicts between the Race organisation and the people who rent the race strip to them. There were no races that year so Raimond decided to sell his car and buy a house with a garage. Before he bought his new house he always did all his repairing and tuning outside the house on the parking lot, rain or shine.
1970 Dodge Challenger
This awesome Dodge Challenger belongs to Erik Bolderheij. From the moment he saw the car he knew he had to have it. Since he bought the car he really got addicted to it and even bought a house with a big garage to store it nice and dry,
Racing,
At the first Explosion race event in june 2006, Erik won the 3rd price in the streetmachine B class. This was the first time Erik took his Challenger to the strip and when he made his first run he knew it wouldn’t be the last. The second race event he even became 2nd ! As soon as he went back home he started thinking on how to get faster. The main problem was getting grip. Since the Challenger hasn’t got a limited slip differential and racegears, Erik decided to replace his small rear axle with highwaygears to a 8 ¾ limited slip rearend with a littlebit more racefriendly 3:55 ratio. Erik did al the assembly by himself and also welded a brace on the housing for more stiffness, and developed a calltrack system to prevent wheelhop. He purchased a couple of Edelbrock dragshocks and a set of Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro Street/strip tires to make sure his wheels stick at the ground and don’t cost him seconds by having wheelspin.
Right now Erik is building a new engine for his Challenger, to make sure he’s gonna be the fastest from the Sweetbird69 dragrace team, he’s building a serious engine for his Challenger. A 500 cubic inch stroked 440 Bigblock build with only the best parts available. For 2008 Erik has planned to leave his old engine in and see if he can break his best time with the new rearend.
Best time 2006 is 15.6 @ the 1/4 mile
Best time 2008 is 15.4 @ the 1/4 mile
Best time 2009 is 13.7 @ the 1/4 mile
Last year (2007) there were no races in our country, so instead of upgrading his engine he decided to upgrade his brakes from 4 drums to 4 discs. He also installed a linelock system to make sure his reardiscs don’t suffer if he spins his tires. For a little bit more handling on the street he rebuilt almost the complete frontend as well.
1974 Dodge Dart Swinger
This Sweet ride belongs to Mark van Soest, since he saw the dukes of hazzard and The A-team at young age, the american car virus got stuck in his head, and after being to the dragraces to watch Raimond and Erik, he decided that it was time to put a BIG motor in his little dart.
Racing,
Mark saw the races at the strip and thought, I want that too! So he did a little homework and find out that it was quite easy to put a V8 in his 6 cilinder powered Dodge Dart. After driving a couple of Chevy’s and a 1968 Ford Fairlane all with a V8 the Dart didn’t satisfy anymore when Mark with his ever lasting heavy right foot hit the accelerator almost thru the metal. So he went out looking for a V8. Instead of putting a mild performed small block in to his Dart Mark’s eye felt on a complete rebuilt and heavy tuned 383 big block. He waited no longer and bought the engine. Now this is a winning combination, a small lightweight car and a BIG engine with lots of horsepower. The only problem is that this Little Dart with an engine this big turns out into a lethal weapon when Mark’s behind the wheel. Because the rear axle cant hold all this power, Mark bought an 8 ¾ rearend from an ’68 dodge Charger. The rearend is being narrowed blueprinted and equipped with new 3:91 or higher gears in a suregrip differential for maximum grip and performance.
Upcoming season (2010) Mark’s gonna hit the strip, probably pushing his dart somewere in the 12 second range.
1969 Dodge Superbee
This is Emile, he owned several us cars but since he bought his 1969 Dodge Coronet Superbee he fell in love. He's a webdesigner and responsible for our beautiful website.
When ever there's work to do on one of the cars Emile's always there to help. Doesn't matter if it's an engine swap or a body repair job, he does it all. On the strip he's also the one that helps the drivers in the burnoutzone and handles the camera to make sure that there will be a lot of nice movie material and photo's been made. Ofcourse until he hits the strip in his own ride, then we have to find an other crewmember to take care of that job. Lucky for us there's allways enough friends around.....
1974 Dodge Challenger
This is Michael de Vries, since he started working at the same company that Erik works for, he got addicted to american made vehicles. Erik literally brainwashed him by telling him several story's about the power that a V8 can make and learned him everything he wanted to know about the american muscle car. Michael had a Volkswagen golf that was giving him big problems, so he decided that if he wanted to start with this great hobby, now would be a great time. So, he sold his golf and started looking for an American car. He soon knew that his favorite car would be a Plymouth 'Cuda, Challenger or Charger, but to get started he bought a Big Dodge W200 as a Daily Driver. Parts are easy to find and he likes the "don't mess with me" look that the Dodge has.
Racing,
Michael now ownes a 1974 Dodge Challenger, and he plans to be the fastest of the sweetbird69 guys. To be sure of that he, want's to put a 500 cubic inch stroker engine in his car that will barf up more than 550 Horses !! The transmission will be a beefy 727 automatic, and the rearend a dana 60 with a 4:10 gear ratio !!
